Shop Lovewell Institute
During its twenty years of existence, Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts ("Lovewell") has developed over forty original musical theatre productions and videos through annual summer workshops and a variety of after school programs in partnership with a number of organizations, including Nova University school, Kinkoping Sweden Community, Boca Raton's Promise, Boys Girls Clubs, the YMCA, the Salina (Kansas) Public Schools, Florida Keys Community College, and Donna Klein Jewish Academy. Students from across the United States and Europe have participated in Lovewell's programs. As a result of this process, Lovewell has accumulated a vast amount of experience and information regarding the power of the Arts to educate, transform, build and harmonize our communities.
The "Lovewell Method" is an innovative applied arts education program that involves curriculum and activities to encourage and guide students through the process of creating an original musical theatre production and video. The themes, characters, plot, music, lyrics, design and dances in the production are generated directly from the imagination, experiences and craftsmanship of the students themselves. The Lovewell Method stresses creative problem solving, critical thinking and provides training in team building, organization and leadership, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, and vocational skills building. Independent evaluators have praised Lovewell's program. In 1996, the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities designated it as one of the nation's most effective arts education programs. "(These) programs have a positive impact on the lives of youth. Their fresh, sometimes novel approaches, implemented by caring, committed artists and scholars are worthy of a closer look and increased support."
Lovewell sponsors various workshops dedicated to the conceptualization, development, production, and audio and video recording of a multimedia musical theatre presentation.
